What’s the topic?

For the first time Dries allows a filmmaker to accompany him in his creative process and rich home life. For an entire year Reiner Holzemer documents the precise steps that Dries takes to conceive of four collections, the rich fabrics, embroidery and prints exclusive to his designs. As well as the emblematic fashion shows that bring his collections to the world and have become cult “must sees” at Paris Fashion Week.  And as several fashion and lifestyle magazines conclude, also this documentary is a must see.

What’s the topic?

Starting out on your own business path but struggling with the money side? It’s one thing to turn to Google for the answers…but sometimes it’s just better to sit eye-to-eye with a real person who really knows. Makerversity will host an interactive discussion lead by our friends Claudia and Maarten – two entrepreneurial investors and finance experts from Rabobank. Grab a slice of pizza and a beer and get involved with the discussion alongside fellow start-ups probably in a similar position to you. Bring your questions along and don’t be afraid to ask them.

What’s the topic?

Catch a glimpse of the recent work of some of the best waste-reducing fashion designers scouted by the EcoChic Design Award, the world’s biggest sustainbale design competition. Among the ten finalists of 2017, is Amsterdam based designer Joëlle van de Pavert. She applied the techniques of zero-waste, reconstruction and up-cycling to a range of waste textiles that include textile swatches and secondhand clothing. See one of the great designs of Joëlle and other finalists up close at Fashion for Good exhibition space. And don’t miss the daily screenings (1pm) of Redress documentary Frontline Fashion.

What’s the topic?

‘Earth Matters’ refers to the worldwide development regarding sustainability and respect for earth’s resources. In the worlds of design, science and business, these aspects are of great importance. By using the four themes, ‘Honouring Origins’, ‘Collecting Ingredients’, ‘Reinventing Materials’ and ‘Sustaining Production’, the exhibition ‘EARTH MATTERS’, gives the visitor a better understanding of a sustainable cycle and the importance of material studies. The exhibition shows experiments – from fashion to design – that contribute to a sustainable making process, either on a small or a large scale. All projects encourage people to think about the source of materials and the creation process, not only through innovation, but even more by the re-evaluation of crafts and locally produced products. The exhibition is curated by Lidewij Edelkoort and Philip Fimmano, together with the TextielMuseum. (Source: TextielMuseum)
